Spots
What I like about a Saturday is we all have our spots. The BEST spot is Tommy. See, Tommy stays in bed longer on this day. So we curl up to her all nice and close. Cuts off her circulation Tommy says.
But Tommy pets us and tickles our chins anyway. So must not be too bad.
Then we head to our other spots. Uncle MaxMaxx seizes the book shelf, since he got all literary. Perry poses on the piano. Daddy Peyton delights in a kitchen window, while Mommy is mesmerized from a bedroom window. As for Brother Gray, he finds solace on Tommy's desk. I'm surprised he finds room. But Brother Earl Gray does and with chums yet.
I love Saturdays.

For Friend Friday

Humans.
Somewhere between Tommy doing that dance she does every Friday
And doing something important i.e. feeding us-
It went a little something like this:
Tommy: Baby Noir...
Uh-oh, she called me Baby Noir-she' gonna beg
Tommy: Well, you know I did this poem photo thing
Yea, Yea, you think you're Ansel Adams and Robert Frost all in one
Tommy: You liked it, right? You hung by me when I took the picture
I was hungry
Tommy: So I was thinking, Baby Noir...
Just get to it. Cut the Baby Noir stuff. Ain't itty bitty cat anymore
Tommy: Uh, can I plug my http://7thstreetslant.etsy.com on your blog?
Always want something. OK. Fine.
Tommy: You're the best Baby Noir! THANK YOU!
So-what do I get?
With that, Tommy fed us breakfast.
While everybody got the identical food, Tommy gave me my favorite
Fancy Feast: Chicken Hearts with Liver or something like that--it's in a pink can. I'm OK with pink.
What you do for Humans!
Enjoy Friday!

Never Knew
Uncle MaxMaxx has a new perch:
A book shelf
I never knew Uncle MaxMaxx
Even had a thing for books!
Shelf been there for couple months
We all kinda kept our distance--
Especially me, I'm more of a TVLand cat
But then Uncle MaxMaxx jumped
From a chair to the top of the shelves
And stayed. Even napped.
Asked Uncle what gives--BOOKS?
As he yawned and I smelled lunch on his breath,
Uncle MaxMaxx says books aren't just for sleeping ON
They're also good to open UP
Really?
Uncle MaxMaxx says he wishes
Tommy would get more "The Cat Who..." books
Seems Uncle MaxMaxx likes to laugh
While in the midst of reading
How two Siamese help solve a good mystery
Uncle MaxMaxx a literary connoisseur
Wow
I never knew

Tabby Tough

Tough
Yep. That's me!
Tommy got us this scratch cardboard thing that every
Body uses--well, except me
Like to bite it instead
Yep. Tough!
Was a red dangly furry
Ball under it.
Got rid of that-quick!
Now I bite the plastic frame
And sometimes drag the
Whole thing 'round the room
Why?
Because I'm tough like that.
That's how I roll!

Before on Saturday
Good Saturday Morning All--Perry here! Shhh. It's about 12:30 Saturday morning. Everybody is asleep--including that peepsqueak kid that never meows: Noir. So I decided to take the reigns and tell you about this mancat. See, I read another cat's blog where they showed pictures of the cats before them. WONDERFUL idea! So when Tom took my handsome picture on her piano (that she really needs to play) I remembered Tom had a picture of a cat on that same piano.
Brenner.
I only knew Brenner for a few weeks. He hated me. I was such a rowdy kitten, but took to Brenner right away. Trust me, Brenner didn't feel the same. He was eleven years old when I showed up, right after Tom's daddy died.Brenner didn't take too kindly to some fur-ball kitten following him everywhere.
Tom saw Brenner in Operation Kindness, a Dallas no-kill shelter, in July 1990. Tom didn't know who to pick. Tom says she thinks the shelter lady was getting tired of Tom just walking around in circles. Then the shelter lady showed her "Tiger" a white ball of fur, who was asleep. Tom picked "Tiger" up , he yawned, showed Tom his blue eyes and he licked her face. Even with that Tom said she had to think about it. So the next morning, Tom called the shelter. "Tiger" was still there, so Tom went to go get him. But there had been some other lady who saw him too, who said she'd come back for Tiger. So Tom waited until the shelter lady finally said, "You were here last night, he's yours."
"Tiger" became Brenner, for actor Yul Brynner--'cause of the Siamese in him--"The King and I"-King of Siam, ya know. Brenner's thing was to hop in basket of clean, and still so very warm clothes. Also, if Tom left an bag of white corn Doritos on the counter--the next morning the bag would be on the floor, opened and crumbs abound.
And-well, Tom had a balcony where she had bird feeder attached to the wall. Tom would keep the door open just enough so Brenner could go out. They lived on the 2nd floor. Brenner never jumped--off the balcony anyway. What he would do, is stalk the bird feeder. Tom thought it was something how Brenner would just watch the birds.
Yea, Tom thought it was really something, when Brenner started to catch the birds and bring them inside. HAHAHA! They'd go flyin' around the apartment while Brenner would take off after them and Tom would take after Brenner! Tom saved six of the seven birds Brenner caught.
Tom loved her Brenner. He hated me. Tom wanted to see us grow together. If Brenner would take to me. Never had the chance. Brenner got cancer. Just weeks after Tom buried her daddy and brought me to Dallas, Brenner joined Tom's daddy in Heaven.
To have Brenner leave just crushed Tom. It was hard, so soon after her daddy. I did my best to make Tom happy. I think I did OK. I wish I woulda gotten to know Brenner. Tom still smiles when she looks at his pictures.
Brenner hated me. But we both love Tom. That's all that matters. Hmm. I guess the peepsqueak kid Noir loves Tom too. Oh well, two outta three ain't bad.

Some Perry Pillow Piano

Finally Friday
As Tommy took pause from that dance
She does every Friday,
There was Perry (not so much Cranky Ol Sour Puss)
On the living room ornament
Tommy calls a piano.
It's an ornament and not an instrument because
Google told me instruments need to be played
So ornament in our house
Or in Perry's case: a perch to pose
On this Friday
As it should be
Enjoy!

Thursday Take Time

My Uncle MaxMaxx took a breather after
A run through the house
Being all big boned and all, he needs to stop
For a moment or seven
When Tommy tried to be all Ansel Adams
With the picture, the flash didn't go off
And the picture almost came out pitch black
Tommy played with it some and got this look.
She kinda likes it. I do too.
When Tommy got the flash to work
Uncle MaxMaxx went on his merry way
To his food dish
Priorities

Of Course

Our pigeon is outside. Tommy takes bird food (after she fed us, of course) and fresh water out to the birds. Every other bird flies away except the pigeon. It kinda lingers. Walks close to Tommy and then backs up. Tommy puts some food on the ground. And the pigeon knows where the gettin' is good--and kinda comes closer. Tommy sees his face and more of his colors. Yep, a pigeon-with black and white feathers and speckles. What's strange is--this the ONLY pigeon we've ever seen in our yard. Tommy and the pigeon look at each other. And of course, the pigeon is just inches away and Tommy does NOT have that stupid camera! The one time she does need it...and NO. Maybe tomorrow.
Yea. We just yawn or sneeze and Tommy's all up in our Fancy Feast. This is my "OK, I"ll look at you, but not being the all cute kitty look your want-you gotta work for it" pose.
Humans, of course, we gotta keep em.

ManCat Monday Mystery

Perry (I try my best to not call him Cranky Ol Sour Puss much)
Looks out over his savanna
There's this bird--which of course is SO far away-
Yet has Perry's attention
Had Tommy's attention too.
It got closer after Tommy snapped this picture, but
Perry had lost interest and bailed
Tommy thinks it's a pigeon, but says the face doesn't look pigeon-y
So we have a mystery bird amongst the rest and squirrels
At least Perry had some entertainment until he bailed
The "TODAY Show" was about to start
Perry wonders if Matt Lauer has a cat
ManCats are curious about the world and wonder alot.
That's how we roll.

Friday Finally
Tommy thought if she got me to laugh
While she did that dance she does EVERY Friday
I'd finally look at the camera and
Flash Tommy one of those Real Cute Cat Looks
.....uh, that would be a No.
Still not feeling being a Glamour Puss Pin Up
So I shot her my Bored and Annoyed face.
What did Tommy do?
After she took the picture she says;
"Oh, you are so cute, my little baby Noir!"
Humans.
They pay the electric bill so the PC can stay on
Gotta keep em.

Saturday Sweet Stuff
Saturday. Am so happy.
This morning all of us were curled in bed and Tommy couldn't budge
That's how it should be
Uncle MaxMaxx then had some issue with this big mirror,
Tommy sat on the closet floor. Uncle paw'd at it--like to get at the kitty inside.
Which, was--well HIM. Why didn't Tommy have her camera then?
And this picture--a little fuzzy, yet gotta love it.
My Mommy and Daddy Peyton doing a nose nudge.
Hmm.
And to think their nose nudge two years ago got me here!
That's how it was suppose to be.

Friday is Tommy's Time!
Since Tommy feeds us, cleans our litter boxes, gives us treats (except when we look at the camera) and doesn't disturb us when she gets into HER bed--I decided to devote this day to Tommy--and probably the last time in a while, can't get her feelin all lioness on the savannah and all! And to be honest, she likes those pictures of us as itty bitty cats, so....

OK, I know it's Mother's Day on Sunday. Mommy has said to let her rest on Sunday. We can curl, but don't expect any baths that day. We're grown and we're on our own, she says. Drat. For Tommy, she says Mother's Day is a sorta bittersweet day. Tommy's not had her Mommy for a long time, since she was a young girlcat. So Tommy wrote something about that and turns out it's been published in local Dallas newspapers ever since 2004. That's before I even showed up, but nonetheless.
Because of Tommy, I'll post that writing here AND pictures of when Tommy was a
Now Tommy's writing:
Another View
Years ago, avoidance of the greeting card aisle near Mother’s Day rivaled my loveless affair with liver and onions. Even as I rushed past the cards, the words, “To My Dear Mother,” screamed at me. As people did their best to pick the most perfect Mother’s Day card, envy, not blood, flowed through my veins. Did they know how blessed they were?
My mother died from yellow liver atrophy almost three months to the day after surgery. She was forty-three. I was thirteen. She was too young to die and I was too young to be left without a mom. Now it was just my dad and me. Even at thirteen, I wondered how we would survive. I hated that my mom never hesitated to spank, yet I would let her spank me a thousand times over if God would bring her back.
My peaceful world was gone. No more ‘girls only’ nights when my dad worked late. We’d drive as far as time and ice cream took us. Laughs and song filled the air. No more would I watch her put on eyeshadow and wonder if I would ever be as pretty.
Mother’s Day soon became just another Sunday without football.
For twenty years, I permitted my mom’s death to be the root of my stumbles. Life moved on, but I lagged behind. I somehow had to learn from her life so I could finally live my own.
I was sick and tired of being sick and tired of not being able to change the past. I had to embrace my mom’s death and move on. God’s word opened that door with Psalms 121 (NIV): I lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? I knew where to start.
Now, I no longer avoid the Mother’s Day card aisle. Like everyone else, I hunt for the perfect one. How can I not celebrate the woman who introduced me to A & W onion rings while she explained changes a young girl experiences are a celebration? I sign my card with love and tuck it away with the others.
Our life together lasted just thirteen years, yet was more valuable than rubies. My mother’s spirit dances within me every second, every minute, every day. I am truly blessed, for I know one day we’ll see each other again. Our laughter and songs will fill the air. Praise God.

And for your viewing pleasure....
Then I found this picture of Tommy with this girl and guy. The back of the picture says Debbie and Donny Osmond...WHO? Tommy wrote it was week after their wedding day--which was May 8, 1978. Since that proves Tommy is really old, I made the picture the black and white, just like all the others. Donny Osmond...? Hmm. Lots of teeth.

Happy Friday to all our friends!
Happy Mother's Day to all the Mommies!

My Brother Earl Gray
He's not sleep, nor head in the food bowl
Brother had just flopped down in front of Tommy
Who was in midst of taking more blasted pictures!
Hmm.
Just wait until TOMORROW-I get Tommy back!
You'll see
Anyhoo, Brother Earl Gray flopped, stretched and
Then tried to do his best Olympic Tabby Turn
He stopped in mid action
No medal for him,
But Brother Earl is always gold in my book!

ManCat Monday Magic
Tommy opened her shower door this morning
And saw ME perched on the back of her litter pot
With my gaze straight at her.
Scared Tommy was and said
"NOIR! How DID you get in here??"
See, once again Tommy closed the litter box door
To take her shower
And once again, I was able to get it open.
My answer to Tommy's question was to jump down
Swagger to the litter box door
Sit for the seconds it took Tommy to open it
And take my leave
Let Tommy ponder the situation
We ManCats are magical
That's how we roll
PS. Looked at Tommy then. Don't look at her now

PC Poo

Mad.
Me and Tommy both.
We had no PC from Friday morning until this afternoon
Some guy, who Tommy said was from
Some place called Verizon, came to our house today
Tommy thought this Verizon had some inside problem ( I eat grass for that)
And the fact we had no TV, phone or Internet (hence, no Friday blog)
Friday morning, even tho a message on the TV said to call some number
Tommy thought it would be fixed by the time she got home from work
Wrong.
By then it was too late for the guy to come, so today he did
We curled alot-like Me and Brother Earl
And Tommy read to pass the time while we waited for
Our link to the outside world to be fixed
The guy musta did a good job 'cuz I'm back!
OK, so we stayed under the bed
For the two hours the guy was here
Well, all of us except Perry.
Being old, I guess makes you fearless
When PC's don't work it's all poo.
